Apples?

There is a lot of symbolism in and and literature
about apples.

And–as to why–it’s no mystery either.

But first, what does the apple symbolize?

It symbolizes:

-Temptation
-The fall (from innocence)
-Knowledge
-Immortality
-Death
-Fertility
-Decay
…even love and sexuality.

WOW!

The Biblical symbolism in that list is
a given. Adam and Eve…and all that.

Death…

How about the story of “Snow White”,
and the poisoned apple?

Yes, that’s there.

Knowledge-Newton and the apple falling from the tree.
The birth of “the theory of relativity”.

And…

Love and Sexuality.

Yes, that too.

Because the Greek god of wine and the harvest– Dionysus,
offered apples to win the goddess of love and
fertility—that being Aphrodite’s, love.

The apple even symbolizes growth…

There is a lot of strength and growth symbolism in
that story.

Even in Japan…

The colors red and white—colors of the apple—symbolize
good luck and health.

And that is why red and white are used in Japanese
celebrations—such as:

-Weddings
-New Year
成人式 (seijin-shikithe Japanese “Coming of Age” ceremony

…and several others.
