happening in and around the world.
Here are some recent stories that have caught my attention:
1. A new Van Gogh painting is discovered: In September 2021,
a previously unknown painting by Vincent Van Gogh was
discovered in the attic of a family’s home in France.
The painting, titled “Raccommodeuses de filets dans les dunes”
(Net Menders in the Dunes), was verified and authenticated by
the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Also it is believed to have
been painted in 1882.
2. The Louvre unveils a new conservation center–In September of
2021, the Louvre Museum in Paris unveiled a new state-of-the-art
conservation center.
This is interesting because…
The center is designed to protect and preserve the museum’s vast
collection of artworks, which includes over 620,000 pieces.
3. This one is a little weird, but… Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” painting
was recreated in a “Petri Dish” !
WOW!
Ye–Scientists at the University of Tokyo have used bacteria to recreate
Vincent van Gogh’s “Starry Night” in a petri dish.
The project::
“Bacillus subtilis Paintings”
The project is part of a growing trend of using
microbes to create art.
So weird!
But the petri dish images are shockingly
similar to the original works.
