Goya Health Benefits

Last week I talked about my other passion,
which is cooking.

And I talked about why I like Goya, and I
promised to go in to details this week
on the health benefits.

But first…

Goya:
It is also known as bitter melon or bitter gourd. Goya is a
tropical fruit that is commonly consumed in various
cuisines, particularly in Asian countries.

Here are the Health benefits:

1. Rich in nutrients:
Goya is low in calories and high in essential nutrients. It
is a good source of vitamins C, A, and E, as well as
folate, potassium, and dietary fiber.

2. Antioxidant properties:
Goya contains various antioxidants, including flavonoids,
phenolic compounds, and vitamin C. Antioxidants help
neutralize harmful free radicals in the body, reducing
oxidative stress and protecting against chronic diseases.

3. Blood sugar regulation:
Goya has been studied for its potential benefits in managing
blood sugar levels. It contains charantin and polypeptide-p,
both of which are believed to have blood sugar-lowering
effects. However, more research is needed to fully understand
its impact on diabetes management.

4. Weight management:
Due to its low calorie and high fiber content, goya can be a
beneficial addition to a weight loss or weight management
diet. The fiber helps promote feelings of fullness, reducing
overall calorie intake.

5. Digestive health:
The dietary fiber present in goya supports healthy digestion and
can help prevent constipation. It also contains enzymes that aid
in the breakdown of food and improve nutrient absorption.

6. Immune system support:
The high vitamin C content in goya helps boost the immune
system and supports the body’s defense against common
illnesses and infections.

7. Skin health:
The antioxidants found in goya, such as vitamin C and vitamin E,
can help protect the skin from oxidative damage caused by free
radicals. They may also promote healthy skin by reducing
inflammation and supporting collagen production.

And…

An important note:
The individual responses to goya or any food can vary, and some people
may not enjoy its taste. If you’re considering adding goya into your diet for
its potential health benefits, it’s advisable to consult with a healthcare
professional or nutritionist to ensure it aligns with your specific dietary
needs and any existing health conditions (like food allergies).

And if decide to add it to your cooking, for the health benefits,
I hope you enjoy it.
