Inspiration?
So…
People often ask me, about my art and where my inspiration comes from.
The quick and easy answer is “EVERYWHERE”.
And my husband is an expert at this. He will message me that he is running late because
the “bus got a flat tire”–but–then he follows it up with…”…and thank goodness this happened!
Now I have a great idea for the opening of my presentation!”
And he does.
Something about how systems breaks down, and falls flat (like a flat tire)..and so on.
I don’t know exactly, I’m the artist and that’s his thing. But he just gets ideas from
everywhere.
And for me…
I am similar, but in regards to art.
Here is a short (and not exhaustive) list
of where I get art ideas from:
-a walk in the park
-a flower in the garden
-a butterfly fluttering on by
-a sign hanging crookedly in a store window
-a person that rushes by you on the street
-a discarded rusty bicycle
-a commercial on TV
-a person walking their dog
-a lovely dress that you see while window shopping
-a stray thought while making dinner
…and so on.
It’s all around you.
You just need to be open to it.
And…
The great thing is, it’s a skill.
The more you practice it, the more you
become aware and tuned into it.
And then it happens naturally all the time.
So good luck at opening that door of “inspiration”.
I hope it brings you all the wonders it brings me.
