Our recent travels to…
Our travels…
A little while ago I told you that I would be
travelling with my husband.
Well, we went to…
Awaji Island!
Awaji Island in Japan’s Seto Inland Sea. Also
Awaji Island is known for it’s traditional
puppet theater.
Here is a photo of some old traditional
puppets we saw at a museum:
The Awaji ningyō jōruri troupe performs at Awaji
Doll Jōruri Pavilion in Minamiawaji city.
And…
The reconstructed hilltop and the Sumoto Castle
Ruins–it overlooks Osaka Bay.
Also, the well-known Akashi-Kaikyō Bridge
connects Awaji to the city of Kobe
So…
On our trip, we went to…
A nice restaurant and museum,
where we ate the…
“Famous Awaji Burger”
This:
And…
We stayed at a great hotel.
The staff and service were great.
And…
The hotel had an amazing Onsen.
An Onsen —“hot water spring” and
written like this:
温泉
it is a natural hot spring bath, and thanks
to its plentiful volcanic activity Japan has
lots of them.
Onsen water is “geothermally heated” beneath
the ground and rises to the surface bubbling hot.
The purpose of the Onsen is…
“The ultimate bathing experience”.
The hot spring water can relieve tense muscles and the
natural (and peaceful) surroundings of most Japanese
hot springs can help clear your mind.
Your body quickly cools after leaving the hot spring
which helps your body to relax even more.
Some Onsen have natural herbs which have a medicinal effect.
And it can help put you into a deep (and healing) sleep.
The Hotel Onsen was both indoors and outdoors.
Here is photo from the beautiful beach across
from the Hotel:
And, that was “the basics” of our trip.
It was an amazing short but fun-filled
“get away” for a few days.
Hope you had as much fun reading about it,
as we did enjoying it.
